Celebrate the 23rd Bastille Day Festival 2016 in Franschhoek on the 16th & 17th July.

Locals and visitors to the valley will be celebrating centuries-old French Huguenot heritage at its annual Bastille Festival. So don your red, white and blue regalia and come and indulge in a feast of delectable food, the finest wines and all the fun that is on through the festival.

The focal point at the Bastille Festival 2016, as always, will be the Food and Wine Marquee, where Franschhoek's award winning and famous wine estates are offering their finest wines for you to taste and enjoy. Also on offer are mouth watering dishes from Franschhoek's widely acclaimed chefs. And of course their will be live music in the Bastille Marquee to liven things up.

As usual there will be the sporting component at Bastille with the famous Barrel Rolling Competition with competitors from the various Wine Estates, the hustle and bustle of the Boules Competition which anyone can enter, run as always by the SPCA.

Along with all the above there will be the Farmers' Market, Craft Stalls, children's activities, and the minstrels parade. So come and enjoy the fun at Bastille Day 2016 in Franschhoek.

Not for the feint at heart, nor for the unfit, the Salomon Bastille Day Trail Run is a tough challenge for any runner. These runs are a wilderness adventure, for which you need to be prepared - you have been warned!

There are a 15km, 24km. 35km and 50 km routes.

Visitors can look forward to sipping, sampling and savouring some of the Franschhoek’s superb wines in the comfort of the Food and Wine Marquee, situated at the Huguenot Monument - the perfect venue, with exquisite mountain backdrops, and ample parking within walking distance. Treat your taste buds to a gastronomic feast with delicious fare from some of Franschhoek’s well-known restaurants.

Entrance tickets cost R220 per person, which includes a complimentary tasting glass, a booklet of tasting coupons as well as a R20 wine voucher to be used on the day. Additional coupons can be purchased on the day.
