Inter-Winelands Sports Day

25th January 2010

Taking regional rivalry to new heights this event will see Stellenbosch wineries squaring off against Franschhoek wineries in a friendly Sports Day held at Groot Drakenstein Games Club.
Activities will include cricket, barrel rolling, boules and a ‘potjiekos’ cook off. All this will be in celebration of 350 years of wine making at the Cape.

Franschhoek Vendange Celebration

13 March 2010, Saturday
Make your way to Franschhoek for the inaugural Vendange Celebration (French for harvest) on Saturday, 13 March. In keeping with the French heritage and, true to tradition, a long and exceptionally colourful harvest table will be set up in the centre of the town, welcoming locals and visitors to sit down to a sumptuous feast. A traditionally bountiful French inspired feast of mouth watering delights, prepared by some of the village’s passionate chefs, awaits.
Tickets to this unforgettable event cost R550 per person (R450 per person for Franschhoek locals).Your all inclusive ticket includes, amongst others, entry to the Vendange Celebration, participation in the grape stomping, live entertainment, a bountiful feast, as well as an abundance of some of Franschhoek’s award-winning wines.

Plein Air Painter Robert Grogan

Robert Grogan will teach a five day oil painting workshop in Franschhoek. The class will cover fundamentals of oil painting and is appropriate for beginners as well as established painters who wish to learn to paint outdoors.

Cars will assemble at the Franschhoek Motor Museum on L’Ormarins Wine Estate in Franschhoek. This is where the Rally will begin and end. Cost: R5000.00 per car including a light Breakfast, your rally, Gourmet Lunch including wine & a goodie bag of Franschhoek’s 12 Gems for you to take home. As the day will begin early and include a few glasses of Bubbly and wine we urge all participants to stay over in Franschhoek. Accommodation is available to suit all.

Visit 10 of Franschhoek's most spectacular gardens as they burst into bloom this summer. Most of these gardens have not been open to public viewing before and includes one recently filmed by BBC 'around the world in 80 gardens'.

Arrival and check in point for ALL Tickets, pre-sold & on the day sales is the Franschhoek Municipal Lawns Here you will get issued with a secure armband, receive your map, listing all of the gardens and indicating walking and driving routes.
From there you are set to explore the wonderful world of the valley's gardens!
Have fun! Visitors will not be granted access to the gardens unless they are wearing the armband.
