Franschhoek is is certainly about dining out, drinking superb wines or going on a shopping spree! Still there are plenty of other Activities to do during a visit to our wonderful village and valley.

Franschhoek is a place of immense natural beauty which you can explore. The Franschhoek Pass offers stupendous views of the valley, village and the towering Simonsberg moutain. Take a drive up there in the early morning or in the evening for a superb viewing experience.

For the more adventurous and energetic one can hike from the valley up the pass on the Cats se Pad trail as well as into the Mont Rochelle Mountain Reserve which is accessed from the top of the Pass. The view from the top of Mont Rochelle is well worth the effort to get there. View our Gallery below.

A superb weekly activity is to visit the Village Market where the community meets each Saturday under the trees in the NG Kerk Grounds. Delicious food, wines, crafts, art and live entertainment are available for your enjoyment. Here you can meet locals and tourists.

For those who like to explore the village and the valley without using a car, you can hire a bike from Franschhoek Cycles. For those who like mountain biking there are a few mountain trails around the Berg River Dam area. Franschhoek Cycles also offer Spinning Classes

Visit the Huguenot Memorial Museum and the Huguenot Monument. Here you can learn about the rich history of the Franschhoek Village, Valley and the history of the Huguenots. Whilst there stop for Breakfast, lunch, tea or a glass of wine at De Oude Slaven Huis Restaurant on the Musuem grounds.

Visiting a Wine Estate for wine tasting is obviously a must do thing in Franschhoek, especially if you like good wines.

For those who like wine tasting with a difference, Paradise Stables offer Wine Tasting on Horseback. Take a scenic ride through vineyards, forests and over mountains, stopping at the Rickety Bridge Winery and Mont Rochelle before returning to the stables. There are also numerous trails in the area for those who just love riding horses.

DSTV Franschhoek Bastille Festival

Celebrate the 24th Bastille Day Festival 2017 in Franschhoek on the 15th & 16th July.

Our Village Market hosts stalls providing delicious foods and drink, art, jewellery and a wide variety of crafts. It is a place where vistors to our beautiful village can meet local personalities, enjoy some fine foods, the best coffee and shop for treasures in arts and crafts.

Set under the trees of the NG Kerk in Franschhoek, the Village Market is a place where the community, both locals and visitors meet.
